Why Can a Custom EVA Case Quote Change After Sampling?

Learn why a custom EVA case production quote may change after sampling when dimensions, foam, materials, branding or packaging are refined.

Why Can a Custom EVA Case Quote Change After Sampling
An early custom EVA case quotation is usually based on the information available before the physical sample is completed.
Once the prototype is built and tested with the actual product, the project may become more precise.
Sometimes that means the production quotation also changes.
At Bravie Case, we recommend comparing the quotation against the final approved specification rather than assuming the first estimate will always remain unchanged.
Product Dimensions May Change
One of the most common reasons is updated product information.
If the actual device is larger, deeper or heavier than the original dimensions, the case may need:
  • A larger shell
  • More interior space
  • Additional foam support
  • A different layout
Even a small dimensional change can affect the final case structure.
This is why confirmed product dimensions are important before sampling.
The Foam Layout May Become More Complex
An initial quotation may be based on a simple proposed interior.
During sampling, the product may show that additional support or organization is required.
For example:
  • More foam layers
  • Additional cavities
  • Finger-access areas
  • Cable storage
  • Mesh pockets
  • Elastic retention
These changes may improve the final case, but they can also change material and assembly requirements.
Case Closure Can Affect the Final Structure
A layout that works in a drawing does not always work exactly the same way in a physical case.
If the product or accessories create too much pressure when the case is closed, the interior may need to be adjusted.
This can affect foam thickness, lid storage or even the overall case depth.
Functional sampling is therefore important for product-specific projects.
Materials or Branding May Be Upgraded
The quotation can also change if the buyer selects different materials after seeing the sample.
Examples may include:
  • Different exterior fabric
  • Custom color
  • Upgraded lining
  • Rubber logo patch
  • Metal badge
  • Custom zipper pull
These changes can introduce new component costs or minimum quantities.
Packaging Can Change the Project Cost
Packaging is another common late-stage change.
A project that originally used simple export packing may later require:
  • Retail box
  • Printed sleeve
  • Barcode label
  • Custom insert card
  • Special carton marks
These items should be added to the final production specification and quotation.
Freight May Also Change After the Final Case Is Known
Early freight estimates are usually based on expected case dimensions and packing.
Once the final size, weight and pieces per carton are confirmed, shipping volume can be calculated more accurately.
A change in freight does not necessarily mean the EVA case production price changed.
It may simply reflect more accurate final packing data.
How Can Buyers Reduce Unexpected Changes?
Before sampling, provide as much confirmed information as possible:
  • Final product dimensions
  • Product weight
  • Product photos or drawings
  • Complete accessory list
  • Estimated quantity
  • Interior requirements
  • Logo artwork
  • Packaging requirements
The clearer the input, the more accurate the initial quotation can be.
Confirm the Final Specification Before Production
After the sample is approved, confirm the final:
  • Case size
  • Materials
  • Interior layout
  • Branding
  • Packaging
  • Quantity
This creates a clear basis for the production quotation and future repeat orders.
